School life
The Hutchins School offers a multitude of opportunities that complement the curricular and co-curricular activities at the School.
School life at Hutchins is never dull and there are continuous events on offer for the students to participate in. These events are balanced with curriculum requirements to ensure a well-rounded educational offering.
The Chapel of St Thomas is an integral part of school life at Hutchins and all students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 attend regular services. All families are also welcome to attend any service advertised in the term calendar.
To assist the students in their pursuits the School’s information, communications and e-learning technologies enable a safe, secure, innovative and dynamic learning environment. This allows Hutchins students to utilise the latest technologies which facilitates a more efficient school life and ensures that students will leave the School as confident, creative and productive users of new technologies.
Students are given numerous opportunities to experience leadership roles either in the classroom, on the Student Tribunal, the SRC or as House or School Prefects. Outdoor Education programs are also on offer to encourage a relationship with nature, provide challenges and foster personal growth.
Hutchins has established links with schools worldwide and continues to explore new opportunities for exchanges. The exchanges range from two weeks to over six weeks. Each exchange presents its unique opportunities. Living in the boarding house of another school or with a family whose son attends that school gives Hutchins boys a chance to experience a different school life as “a local”.
There are many more opportunities available to students to enhance school life at Hutchins. Whether it be academic, community, spiritually or sports related there is a niche for every individual.
