Prefects AFL Grand Final Breakfast
This morning we welcomed our community to celebrate AFL Grand Final day. Over 160 students, fathers, carers, grandfathers, uncles and mentors filled Burbury House for what was an early but enjoyable morning. This year the breakfast featured a panel discussion on the theme ‘Change in Culture’. Year 11 student Thomas Reeves interviewed the panel of former Melbourne Football Club players Colin Garland and Old Boy Michael Seddon (’75) as well as former Carlton Football Club player and Hutchins First XVIII coach Cameron Blight.
The panel provided insight into how the game has changed since their playing days, the introduction of women’s teams into the local and national competitions and the change in culture at club level. It was great to have varying insights across the generations. The auction items were very popular and the funds raised will be donated to Prefect’s chosen charity for 2018, SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY.
We would like to thank Colin, Michael and Cameron for being our guests today and Thomas for hosting the on the couch session.
