Webber Lecture 2018 with guest speaker The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG
The Headmaster warmly invites you to attend this year’s ethics Webber Lecture with guest speaker The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG, former High Court Judge at 6.00pm on Monday 25 June 2018.
The Hon Michael Kirby is an international jurist, educator and former High Court Judge. Michael has served as a Deputy President of the Australian Conciliation and Arbitration Commission (1975–83); Chairman of the Australian Law Reform Commission (1975–84); Judge of the Federal Court of Australia (1983–4); President of the New South Wales Court of Appeal (1984–96); President of the Court of Appeal of Solomon Islands (1995-96) and Justice of the High Court of Australia (1996–2009). In 2013–14, Michael chaired the commission of inquiry (COI) for the UN Human Rights Council on human rights violations in North Korea. The COI found many grave crimes against humanity. So far, there has been no redress, still less transparent accountability, from the regime of Kim Jong Un.
Please join us as Michael Kirby addresses the situation in North Korea along with other human rights engagements in which he has been involved. His talk will include a Q&A session.
This is a FREE public event however tickets are limited.
