Ray Vincent Lunch
On Wednesday 14 December over 70 Hutchins Old Boys came together for the annual Ray Vincent Lunch, held at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.
At the lunch, the Hutchins School Old Boys’ Association presented the Ivied Tower Award, a prestigious award for an Old Boy who has made an outstanding achievement in their chosen field of endeavour.
This year they were delighted to present the Ivied Tower Award to Professor Dale Fisher (’77) who resides in Singapore and sent in a video message of thanks.
Dale Fisher is an Australian physician who specialises in Infectious Diseases and is a Senior Consultant in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the National University Hospital, Singapore. He is also a Professor of Medicine at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (2004), the chair of the National Infection Prevention and Control Committee through the Ministry of Health, Singapore (2013), and chair of the steering committee of the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (2017) hosted by the World Health Organization.

Fisher is now well known to the media for accurate and incisive commentary regarding COVID-19 offered through television, radio, print and social media in dozens of countries of every continent and outlets including CNN, CNBC, BBC, ABC Australia etc.
It was with great pleasure to award the HSOBA Honorary Memberships to Ian McQueen, Dr Rob McEwan and Marcus Vermey. Honorary Life Membership was awarded to Barrie Irons, Tim Johnstone, Tim Lack, Gene Phair and David Morris as well as a Bar Bestowed to David Brammall.
The lunch was a wonderful occasion for our Old Boys to connect once more in 2022 and enjoy each other’s company before the holiday season.
