PLC Sydney
Congratulations to the Hutchins SPA String Quartet who have recently returned from a trip to Sydney to perform in PLC Sydney’s spectacular 135 Year Anniversary Concert as the closing event of their 2023 Science and Music Summit.
Our Hutchins chamber musicians rehearsed and performed at PLC Sydney in Croydon, then they played in the final event which was an evening concert held in the grand Sydney Town Hall, with an audience of up to 2000 people. This event showcased students from PLC’s sister school in Armidale NSW, in addition to Hutchins (representing Tasmania), and ensembles from schools in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan. The concert culminated in a final item which was a specially commissioned work by PLC’s composer-in-residence, Ella Macen. This featured a full symphony orchestra, several choirs, symphony bells and didgeridoo, with renowned composer and musician, William Barton.
The Hutchins students had a wonderful time learning from and getting to know other musicians from around the world and sharing their love of music.
