Kid Wind in New Orleans
Year 11 students Harrison Evans, Luke West and James Tucker travelled to New Orleans this week to compete in the USA National Kid Wind Project. The students are accompanied by Mr Kent Moore, Head of Faculty, Design, Production and Digital Technologies.
As Year 10 STEM students last year James, Luke and Harrison were successful in the international competition and as a result were invited to New Orleans this year to attend the Kid Wind Challenge (a wind turbine design competition). STEM is an elective in Year 10 which is a partnership between the Science and Design, Production and Digital Technology faculties.
We are very excited to congratulate Harrison, Luke and James on finishing third in what was their first attempt at the USA National Championships. They were also the only team competing from outside the USA which is an amazing accomplishment in itself!
Thank you to Mr Kent Moore and the team sponsors (FujiXerox Tasmania, Goanna Energy Consulting and Lewis Australia) who made the trip to New Orleans possible.
