Hutchins volunteers strengthen ties
In an effort to strengthen the ties between the Hutchins School Old Boys Football Club (HSOBFC) and The Hutchins School, over 30 boys from Years 5, 6 and 7 have been giving up their time on Saturdays to assist the HSOBFC in a number of areas. Their duties include retrieving footballs after goals are kicked, running water to the players and operating the scoreboard. All of the students have approached their roles with great enthusiasm.
The time spent volunteering is also valued by the School; for the Year 7 students, the hours can count towards their Service Hours and for those in Years 5 and 6, this can count as a ‘This Matters Challenge’.
Clubs such as the HSOBFC rely heavily on volunteers. It is intended that the current set up with student volunteers from the School will continue for many years to come.
