Hutchins students take out 2nd place at Junior Young Physicists Tournament 2017
During the holidays five Year 10 students, Malcolm Ward, Raiden Lemon, Miles McTaggert, Sudhaunshu Hardikar and Brendan Heatley-Hart attended the Junior Young Physicists Tournament in Brisbane along with Mr Peter Crofts, Head of Faculty – Science.
The format of the competition is similar to a debate, one team presents a report of findings from an experimental investigation they have conducted, and then the opponents critique the report in a discussion with the presenter. After five gruelling rounds the boys were placed 2nd and participated in the Grand Final. In a close fought battle the boys finished in 2nd place to Onslow College from Wellington NZ. Well done to the team!
