Hutchins Prefects host 2021 International Women’s Day events
On Tuesday 9 March our Year 12 Prefects hosted two events for International Women’s Day. The Leadership morning tea was held in Burbury House with school leaders from Hutchins, Fahan School and St Michael’s Collegiate School, including School Captains, House Captains and Prefects. Students heard from former School Captains including Eddie Burrows-Cheng (’13), Lizzie Stokely (St Michael’s Collegiate ’16), and Sasha Gregg (Fahan ’20) about balancing study with the commitments of leadership, and some great advice to achieve the best in their final year.
This was followed by an International Women’s Day Dinner in the Auditorium, where students heard speeches from the St Michael’s Collegiate School Head and Deputy Head Prefects, the Fahan Head Prefect, and Hutchins School Captain, as well as a keynote address from Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner AC on this year’s theme ‘Choose to Challenge’ about women’s equality and consent. Year 12 students and teachers from Hutchins, Fahan and Collegiate also enjoyed a quiz and a delicious curry prepared with Amelia Edwards from Gert and Ted, and raised over $2,000 in support of Sexual Assault Support Services. Thank you to everyone who assisted in making this a wonderful event!
