Headmaster's Message: Tasmanian bushfires

Hutchins teacher Paul Robinson, shown in this photo in action, is one of a number in our community who bravely fought the fires in the searing heat.

Thanks to all in the Hutchins community who have and who continue to offer their time, resources and support to those affected in the recent Tasmanian bushfires. Below is a message from The Hutchins School Headmaster:

The recent Tasmanian bushfires have had an immediate impact on our community. With over 1000 students, an extensive Old Boys network and a large staff, we as a School have a large number of "family members" within the affected areas.

As an immediate course of action, we contacted a number of our past and present families to firstly offer our support and secondly to find out more on the current situation.

We would like to extend all the support we can to our community members which can include opening of Burbury House (the School boarding house) should the need arise.

We realise the impact of these fires on the community will be long-term, as such the School is investigating fundraising and longer term assistance opportunities through the Red Cross.

Should you or anyone you know need assistance, please contact Alan Jones, Deputy Headmaster on 0409 203 781 or on Alan.Jones@hutchins.tas.edu.au

Our thoughts and prayers are with those in the affected areas.

Warwick Dean
Headmaster
