Fire recovery
Seventeen of our students had an opportunity to witness at first hand the devastation caused by the fire that ripped through the Hamilton area. The Allwrights lost, amongst other things, their poppy and wheat crops and a number of sheep. Only mighty resistance from the family and a Forestry Tasmania Unit saved the family home.
We spent the day removing old netting, repairing a few fences and clearing and pruning the cherry and apricot orchards. It was great to see the fields being irrigated in preparation for a crop of cabbages. Hopefully this will be the first of many trips up to the Midlands to assist our Hutchins families who have suffered such huge losses.
