Dancing and dunking: the 2012 School Fair
On Friday 19 October we were blessed with fine weather, great food and even better company. The Senior School Oval was full of rides and activities for all ages. The ever popular gee-whizzer, jumping castles and side-show alley were major drawcards. A large and enthusiastic group gathered on the grandstand adjacent to the oval to cheer on participants in the joust and on the dunk machine. The largest cheer was saved for Head of Senior School, Mr Duncan Warlters who lasted close to 20 minutes before being dumped into the ice-cold water. There was even a surprise appearance from the Power of 9 boys who formed a ‘flash-mob’ and performed their version of ‘Gangnam Style’. Of special note was the wonderful dancing of our new Hutchins mascot Roary the Lion. We cannot mention the Fair without noting Barrie Irons and his Chocolate Wheel; always a crowd pleaser! The book stall, treasure chest and cake stall were also favourites. The food went down a treat and a special thanks to the Old Boys who manned the bar for us.
The Hutchins School Parents’ Association would like to thank all parents for supporting this event. Donations received from the Early Learning Centre, Junior School, Middle School and Senior School were much appreciated. A special thanks to all parents who gave up their time to assist with stalls and activities on the day. The Fair was a great success and it was wonderful to see the Hutchins community coming together to enjoy an evening of family fun.
A very special thank you to our Fair Convenor Carol Plunkett, for all of her hard work and effort.
