CPA Plan Your Own Enterprise competition 2017
The Plan Your Own Enterprise Competition 2017 awards night were held on 28 September 2017 at the CPA Australia building, Hobart. The Hutchins School was well represented with 2 Individual State Finalists and 5 Group State Finalists, including three students from St Michael’s Collegiate. There were over 170 entrants from students from Year 10 to Year 12, all competing against each other for the top award.
Hutchins students completed their business plans as part of their Business Studies 3 (Years 11/12) or Business Studies Foundation (Year 10) course work. Students were given the task of creating their own business concept and preparing a detailed business plan that covered their mission statement, legal structure, staffing, finance, budgeting, forecasting, marketing and operations. Congratulations to Year 12 students James Moroney and Angus Lane for being individual State finalists. There were only 5 group finalists who were all Hutchins teams. Congratulations to the Group division finalists of Year 10 students William Hodgman and Lewis Drury (Cobusters), Collegiate Year 11 students Lauren Yates, Grace Walsh and Tara Fulton (On the Rocks), Year 10 students Luca Gentile and Matthew Goldsmith (Tempus), Ben Farrell and Oliver Parnham (Spinnin’ Linen) and the State winners Alex Smith and Alex Stephens (Park Clerk). Park Clerk was a highly innovative business idea involving a car sharing service app that provides members and users with a platform by which rental agreements can be facilitated and secure payment between users and members made.
The National judging will be completed this week.
