Brisbane Eisteddfod

The Musical Theatre routine – ‘Newsies’.

The Hutchins Senior Dance Troupe recently travelled to Queensland to compete in the Brisbane Arts Eisteddfod that caters specifically for secondary school dance groups. The first event was the Musical Theatre section that saw 26 schools battle it out on stage, and after an impressive performance they were awarded 1st place. Our boys then went on to perform and place in the Hip Hop section against 23 schools. This was our first time competing in this section but the boys really enjoyed it.

The day concluded with the Jazz section against a whopping 47 schools. Our boys were awarded a highly commend for this dance which was a great effort in such an incredible section. The atmosphere at the Edmund Rice Performing Arts Centre is amazing as all the competitors are encouraged to watch in the audience before and after their performance. This adds to the excitement and allows the boys to see what their competition is like. The boys work hard in rehearsals and should be very proud of their achievements as the event proved to be very successful for The Hutchins School.

To learn more about the opportunities we provide for boys to become their best, contact our Enrolments Assistant, submit an online Enquiry form or phone 03 6221 4236. We encourage you to book a tour with our Registrar as this is the best way to see our School in action. Read more…
