Dear member, We hope you are your family are well. Welcome to the first edition of the Ivied Tower newsletter for 2020. |
Message from Tom Windsor (’99) We
are all navigating through these changes and what they mean to us. Our
Old Boys community spreads far wider than Hobart and Tasmania, across
every state and territory in Australia and around the world including
New York, London, Italy, Spain, and China. We’re mindful that there are
many of us doing it really tough. |

A lifetime of community service Richard
Bowden OAM (’51) is well known throughout the Old Boys network.
After a lifetime of service to the community as a former Acting Mayor
and long-time Deputy Mayor of the Central Highlands Council (41 years in
total), Richard was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2006.
He has also served as President of the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers
Association and has served on the Fire Advisory Council.
As an
Old Boy, former parent and grandparent, Richard was also bestowed the
rare honour of Honourary Life Membership of the HSOBA some years ago.
This award was given for many reasons, including for establishing and
for many years running the Sheep Manure fundraising effort! It was Ray
Vincent (’27) and Richard who introduced the concept of shovelling sheep
manure back in the early 50’s and boys have benefited to the tune of
hundreds of thousands of dollars since. |

- How will the donation encourage Old Boys to participate in your group or the HSOBA?
- How will the donation help promote the HSOBA or a portion of the donation be used to recognise the contribution from the HSOBA?
Priority for support of causes

priority order based on the degree to which the cause meets the
criteria. Any other relevant factors identified in a request will also
be considered. |
